Testing & installing the last remnants of my software binge: Tools for balancing your checkbook (who the heck writes checks anymore?), calendar makers (got to do one of those again) and some random template stuff.

After this, its gonna be Game Time! :)
And then off to making my first full length video. 😁

Last time i wrote a cheque was for some school thing for my daughter. She’s 28 now 😆

Not a mac thing per-say, more retro computing in general, I’m off to the retro man cave tomorrow (rmc YouTube)

I followed the rmc on YouTube for a while. He worked out of his basement I believe and I was interested in the coverage of older computers that were very obscure in the US. I thought he paid a bit to much attention to how they cleaned up and looked pretty, while I would be more interested in how they worked. Too much retro-bright and not enough screen shots. Then he moved on to build a play house in an old mill.

Are you heading off to the place he put together?

Yes he has a new cave/exhibition so you can use all the machines. Got tickets for 10-1 tomorrow.
Trash to treasure. Yes the old mill. So basically all that retrobrite was to build the exhibition machines. As it turns out it’s only 28 miles from where i live :)
Any obscure machines you want me to take some pictures of?

I came across RISC OS on my Raspberry Pi, which lead me down a rabbit hole. I had never even heard of an Acorn Archemedes. Green keys are really quiet fetching. Basic built-in and a GUI, write Basic programs with a GUI, what's not to love. I would have found that to be heaven. Had I found that I am sure I would have moved from my Commodore to that machine rather than to a Mac.

Overall I really enjoy using that OS on my Pi. I downloaded all the old manuals for the machines and for programming. I have ordered CDs and books from UK places that still do stuff for the machine.

The Acorn was the British Amiga counterpart. A machine way ahead of its day, with lots of promise and yet no chance to stink up against the rising WIntel monopoly.

We should remember these pioneers, for they show us what might have been.

Wow, this looks like the place to be in the UK! I love the looks of it. May it never run out of energy!

So "Neil's memories", huh? Is that Neil a typo (Neal) and you're the one with the ZX81 memories? :-)

Anyway, thanks for the photos! (you can just paste the URL, we convert them automatically to a hyperlink)

Haha 😆 yes it the place, all vintage computers/consoles all there to play on. Was amazing. An apple ii with a green screen, sweet. Something trail the game.

My man cave is tiny too :/  and today my hopes of getting my midi on my se/30 up and running have been dashed as i decided to fix my vintage Sony DAT recorder first. 6 hours later and i’ve made it worse. I’ve Broken a tiny weeny micro switch whilst trying to clean it, brittle plastic. I’m planning to use the DAT for mastering from my se/30 music studio. Not that i’ve ever made music before so mastering maybe ambitious 😆

P.s i’m a Neal, think my parents were dyslexic 😆

Wow! It's from the Mac OS 8.1 USB? Feasible, but still incredible! :o
