Development / Need a Macintosh Programmer

Could I have the link to Multi-Resolutions so I can make it work with my 1680x1050 display with ResEdit? It would be greatly appreciated. |

Hardware / ~$10 GigE Cards work in Mac OS 7.6.1!
November 20, 2008, 22:07 |
Any PCI card based on the RTL8169S series chip (including RTL8169SC) will give your PCI Power Mac running OS 7.6.1 gigabit ethernet! All of these cards work with this driver! The cards are incredibly cheap! I bought one, and it works great in my Power Macintosh 8500 on Mac OS 7.6.1! |

Well I already own 7.6, so whichever one people think is faster I would install. |

Operating System / System 7.5.5 vs Mac OS 7.6.1 on LC III
August 15, 2008, 18:55 |
I need to have System 7.5.5 or higher on my LC III. That means my two choices would be 7.5.5 and 7.6.1. The LC III has a 25mhz '030 (no FPU), 20mb RAM. Would 7.5.5 be faster? 7.6.1 seemed sluggish when I tried it. Could anybody who owns an LC III or similar '030 mac tell me if 7.5.5 or 7.6.1 is faster? |

Software / iText & LightWayText wordprocessors
August 06, 2007, 07:54 |
I agree that the site has a very bad layout. It's sort of confusing how there is also iText Pro and iText Express. I've tried out iText, and it is a very good word processor. I've also tried out iText Express. Both are some of the best free word processors for their platform. |

Software / A virus app question
July 25, 2007, 02:46 |
My Quadra 700 just had an nVIR virus infection. I never would have known since I had no antivirus applications installed. Monopoly and Claris Resolve told me their code had been tampered with when I ran them, so I found an old copy of Virex 5.5.3 which repaired everything. Almost everything on it was infected! I now have Virex on all my old macintoshes. |

Kaleidoscope was never buggy for me. I like using the Piggy scheme. It even makes an oinking sound when you collapse a window. |

Operating System / Article about 7.5.5 vs 7.6.1
July 11, 2007, 19:56 |
On my Quadra 700, I run System 7.5.0. 7.5.3 and higher make it lock up at startup. You have to Force Quit the Finder to get to the desktop. Once there, any color/resolution changing thing locks up when you try to use it, including the control panel and control strip module. It's odd because 7.6.1 doesn't have that happen on my LC III. 7.5.0 doesn't feel much worse than 7.6.1. However, 7.5.0 seems a lot less cleaned than 7.6.1. I feel that 7.6.1 is much better than 7.5.x for internet browsing. 7.5.0 doesn't use Open Transport, so I can't internet browse at all. You have to have 7.5.3 or higher for that. |

It can be a CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-RW, Combo, Superdrive, or whatever you have, as long as it's Firewire 400. As well as buying, I'm willing to trade. I could trade an ATi Rage II Xclaim VR PCI card. The RAM on this card is non-upgradable. |
