Good find, there's a few really funny ideas :-D

I just fear that in today's world people have become so narrow-minded, tense and super-sensitive that some of that stuff might actually get you in trouble with the people in blue. At least compared to e.g. the 80's where people might have a chuckle with you.

Agreed!  I wouldn't have the nerve to try any of these, but I had a friend once who would have had a great time with a list like this.

We live in the days of deadly home invasions even in the most noble of neighborhoods and knife attacks on public trains in benign places like Switzerland and Germany. Not to mention your run-of-the-mill religiously driven fruitcake with a mission.

So no, I for one would rather take the stairs than ride the elevator with someone whistling in his suitcase.  :-O

Interesting find that renders fine - the page is a collection of Ross Barkman's scripts for connecting Mac OS with old mobile phones, driver for old phones etc. still digging through it, some of that stuff might work on System 7 too!

Paul Baker keeps a personal journal of his retro Mac projects available here:

It's always interesting to read what others are doing to their Macs :)

We haven't mentioned him here yet but it's an interesting read - software developer Tom Pittman's website / blog. It's unencrypted, it's bare bones HTML and renders fine in Netscape 3 even :-)

http://www.ittybittycomputers.com/

For those who don't know, the guy is the developer of 68k Mac software such as CompileIT, PowerFPU etc.

He has strong opinions about things, one is that he has a strong dislike for OSX

Quote
After Apple announced their intention to replace their "aging" 17-year-old Mac OS by a "modern" 35-year-old Unix with a thick layer of pancake makeup, I tried to get some version - any version - of Unix/Linux up on any platform. For over three years I failed utterly to get anything to survive the first reboot. Even OS X crashed "kernel panic" dead on me the first day.

Cleaned up our list on the first page and spent the better half of the afternoon somewhat grouping the links and updating the list with all entries in this thread (hopefully didn't overlook any)

Unfortunately, since posting here we have a few casulties... CNN finally took the OJ Simpson page down, Jon Pugh's Hypercard page passed away and others started to hide their content behind encryption...

Interesting, page was gone yesterday? That's very odd. Thank you for pointing it out, re-added it!

Ran into this page here that features everything about Chess computers and the companies who built them. Even found the model our family used to have and the story behind it. Made an interesting read!

Very cool page about 90's video game consoles, Doom & else. I quote:

Anyone come across this one yet? :)

It's not an older website, but it boots from Mac OS 7 or 8 or goes into a Windows 98 or Tiny Core Linux emulator and navigates both cached sites from archive.org or live web pages (although it seems very temperamental):

So it's basically just imitating the feel of using a System 7 / Win 98 machine?

Yeah :) except it's using real Windows 98 and Mac OS 7/8 on the browser. I played with the map puzzle and other items and it's a little Mac or Windows PC trying to go back in time, so it was kinda' cool even if it's not perfect (at least on my Chromebook, lol) ;)
