Alley 19 Bowling 1.5

1 to 4 players. AppleTalk, TCP/IP, modem/serial. 68040 or PowerMac.
CD-ROM required to host.
StarPlay

Alley 19 Bowling takes you back to the 50's for super-realistic bowling action right on your computer. Alley 19 has successfully replicated the bowling experience with its unique mouse-controlled throwing action. The curve on the ball is controlled by moving the mouse as you click to throw it. This combined with genuine bowling sound effects means the only thing missing is the smelly rental shoes.

Sporting a retro 50's style theme, Alley 19 features beautifully rendered graphics and an original 50's soundtrack. Other features include computerized bowling opponents, full-motion video characters and a special "Rock and Bowl" option.

Internet Play is where Alley 19 really shines; it's very playable across the 'net with even a 14.4 modem! Because bowling is turn-based, the game is virtually unaffected by lag. Alley 19 makes direct connections to each player and no server is involved. One copy of Alley 19 allows for two players to compete (though one will not hear all the fabulous '50 music). StarPlay indicated that additional CD-ROM copies are available at a steep discount for your network partners.

Ares 1.0.1

1 or 2 players. AppleTalk, TCP/IP 68040 or PowerMac.
CD-ROM.
Changeling

Ares is a totally new fusion of action and strategy, combining all the exciting elements of arcade-style action with the challenge of real-time strategy; the result is an exciting "hybrid" which requires both quick reflexes and skillful tactics. With huge, dynamically scaling sprites, it really is a totally new experience-- you have to see it to believe it!

Sure, any armchair supreme commander can rule the galaxy from a safe distance, but it takes a real spaceman to fly into the thick of battle along with his minions! Nothing can prepare you for the challenge of executing strategic maneuvers when you have a squadron of enemy cruisers bearing down on you. Whether you're forming convoys, escorting science vessels, or simply blasting everything that moves, you'll find Ares a unique challenge.

Assassin 1.1.2
shareware!
1 to 4 players. AppleTalk. 68020 or better. Color or B/W.
Wahoo Software

You work as a director at an elite espionage organization. You are in charge of an operative assigned to the International Assassin's Guild Convention who has just been given a target for elimination. You give directions to your operative over a satellite link which, unfortunately, is not fast enough to give you immediate feedback. You must give a series of commands and then wait for the results. The operative you're directing is carefully conditioned and follows your directions exactly, even when they're ... non-optimal.

This is a little strategy game where you program (via point and click) your 'assassin' a series of moves within an arena. At the end of your turn, let 'em go and see who's standing!

Asshole 1.0.5
Free!
3 to 6 players. AppleTalk, TCP/IP. 68020 or Higher. PowerMac Native.
Sean & Greg Munro

I recall back in my college days sitting around the dorm room playing drinking games (ahh, to be young and foolish again! ;-). One of our favorite pastime drinking games was a card game called, interestingly enough, Asshole (it is also known as President, for those who were more politically correct). So why should I be surprised when someone creates a computer version of the game? Despite the rather rude name, Asshole really is a fun card game. The game allows up to 6 networked players, and it's completely free!

Your goal is to be the first to get rid of all of your cards. There are many different variations and rules to this game, many of which are configurable in the preferences. Despite it's name, there is nothing offensive or rude about this game, so why not download it and try it out!

AstroRock

1 to 8 players. AppleTalk. 68040 or PowerMac.
Logicware

AstroRock is a fast-paced Asteriods-type game on steriods. Like all Asteriods clones of the '90's, it has excellent graphical and sound effects. Unlike many others, AstroRock has 360-degree scrolling and head-to-head action against up to 8 other players (I've always wanted to try going head-to-head in a shoot-em-up type game)! AstroRock is also the first game I know of to use Apple's NetSprocket technology.

Ambrosia Software

Avara's real-time graphic action will start your heart pounding as you see your opponent gracefully bound across the terrain and quickly swoop in behind you. Using both the mouse and keyboard, you have complete 360 degree control to counter-maneuver and quickly target your enemy. Players aren't limited to 'sliding' around in predetermined mazes like in many of the older 3D games. Avara's maneuverability is unique, allowing its warriors to freely climb, jump, and run on any of the structures in the battlefield.

Add to this Avara's networkablity, and the game gets even more interesting. Avara allows you to meet and play against people from all around the world, right over the Internet. Develop your skills and strategy in the many solo levels, and when you are ready, access the Avara Internet Tracker to locate worthy opponents. The Tracker offers users a continually updated list of Avara games in progress all over the net. Avara can also be played across LAN (Local Area Network) connections, for those not brave enough to step out into the maelstrom of Internet battle.

With Avara, you are also able to design your own battlefields. The only limiting factor to your gaming experience is your imagination. Using the objects and structures that are provided, and an easy-to-follow manual, designing levels for Avara is a snap. You will never get tired of Avara due to this expandability; it is a game that is always growing. New and exciting levels, from those who want to show off their creative and imaginative accomplishments, will spread all over the Internet.
