I get an error when trying to login with Netscape 4. It reports the following:

"A network error occurred while Netscape was receiving data.
(Network Error: Socket is not Connected)
Try connecting again."

It reports this no matter how many times I try to login.

Can you tell me on what page you were and what you did (e.g. entered my credentials, hit the button) ?

Also, what Netscape 4 are you using? 4.8?

Yeah, I enter my credentials, hit the button, and it gives me that error.

I am using Netscape 4.08

Sorry to double-post, but I also found the Netscape 4.8 BinHex archive linked on this page is broken: http://www.system7today.com/browsercentral

It downloads fine, bu Stuffit won't touch it.

True. Very strange. Will replace it with a working archive.

Sounds good, and I'll try the site with Opera and Netscape 4.8 when I can. :)

I hear there are some inaccurate functionality with IE 4.5, like rendering pages :P

Testing with Netscape 4.8 and Opra 5 shows they both work for me :)

4.08 might be good to support if possible given it's the last version to support 68k systems.“

68K Mac owner here.  I agree with Europa.  Would be nice to see Netscape 4.08 supported as Netscape is my preferred browser.  I tried to register using Netscape 4.08, but I got an error message about a broken pipe.  I ended up registering using one of my newer Macs.

We're working on it! Gives us a few more days (and a weekend :) ) and you'll be able to browse the forums using NS 4.0.8 :)

I'm using 4.8. What is the difference between 4.08 and 4.8? I see more people using 4.08 than 4.8 so I guess 4.08 is older and is the latest for older Macs?

Also, this may be a browser related issue, but Netscape makes me log in every single time I visit. It won't keep my logged in even if I tick 'always stay logged in'.

Also, I sent a PM to Knezzen and I didn't see a copy saved in my Sent folder. Thinking it was a setting I had to tick, I went to my profile and under the Messaging options, nothing shows up. And to top it off, Netscape 4.8 doesn't even let me view a profile on the site, so I had to do it from Opera.

4 years or so of web technology. The version numbering doesn't do it justice, really. (4.08 is the last version for 68k while 4.8 is for PowerPC System 7. We're aiming to support both!)

When composing a PN there's a checkbox saying "Save a copy in my outbox" right above the send message button. If you tick it, it'll keep a copy in your sent folder. It works, just tried it out. :)

What do you mean by you can't view a profile? Does it give a blank page or showing stuff in a distorted way?

EDIT: Just tried to access your profile in a standard install of Netscape 4.7 and it displays fine? What exactly didn't work?

Do you have to manually tick that box every time? It would be cool to tick it permanently somehow :)

I see a blank page when visting your profile:

Also, did you mean Netscape 4.8 and not 4.7? I also noticed that you must have changed your font settings since mine are different.

One other thing: when people are posting links on this forum they are sometimes browing from modern browsers and it posts an https link. I find myself having to copy the link and take out the 'S' to get them to work.
