I have 1 issue.

I am using an video adapter with the dip switches to convert the apple connector to a vga lcd monitor and i am getting vertical bands maybe 10 across the screen.  The bands are a different shade of color not black or white and this issue is on both the built in and pds card.  7100 with 250 mhz g3 7.6.1

 any ideas Wove?

Bill

I got the modo washed and back together

I started right up and woks great without the g3 sonnet

when the sonnet is g3 400 is installed it frezes on startup when the sonnet extension is loading  then no joy I did not wash the sonnet car.  any ideas

the machine ran in this config years ago so I am thinking the sonnet card died but want to explore that further I will put pds video back in the pds slot and make sure the video works which would sort of say it is not a modo issue.

mac 7100   128 meg ram  av video card system 7.6.1

wove are you still around ?

I had some bad luck with my macs.  I have been storing them and had some mice take up residence inside.

the only machine it torques me off about is the 7100/80 with the g3 sonnet.

so back to washin mobo.  should I use the dry cycle ?
6 Off Topic Discussion / a new HDD for G3 Beige

I have been here before the hdd controller will not support ata 133 it needs to be a ata 66 you will slowly have corrupt data.  The best solution is to get a sonnet tempo 133 ata ide controller for one of your pci slots.  this is the best fix I found.  the onboard controller was not very good.  check out 68kmla and search the forum their should be a lot of info concerning this issue also check our info-mac

7 Software / Data logging in 7

The only best way for this would be to get  an old copy of labview "G language" version 3 or 4 ie will run on system 7 for the mac.  Daq Cards can be found in both pci and nubus on e-bay.   as for the data logger, there are prewritten programs out their I can help with that.  If you really want to get wild go with a GPIB box and card.

I cant run 7.6 on my old ibook but i have a bright green  one that gets that same look and it is fun.

The best fun was I took it to an asme pressure vessel meeting and was surfing away while the other engineering types used their "new dells" now that was something!
9 Off Topic Discussion / 7600 usb issues

I have a 7600 that i upgraded to 400 g3

I installed os 9.2.2 with os9 helper and the usb refuses to work.  the card shows up in system profiler as usb 1.5.5 but shows nothing connected.  This card worked in my beige g3.  It will not even power an optical mouse.

all the compenents
i have tried came from other working machines

what would you recommend first?

also i tried 2 pci cards the second one was a usb2 card that now works great in my g4

11 Feedback & Ideas / old help section

Dan I know you are working on the help section with os7 to leopard but I would recommend leaving the old tiger help section.  i have not upgraded yet.  if you are running a 7.6 machine why would you expect the same osx user to be running the latest os.

it would be great to have a help section that would be specific to 10.4 and 10.5 but leave the old stuff on many of use still need it

just a thought

wove is correct you are stuck.  i had a 230 once.  scsi disk mode is the only way to switch the folders back.

it can be fixed.  we have all pulled the trigger on a mod that we wish we could take back.

i also found acdee for mac which will work with os 7 to 9 and x.  i believe it will produce hpgl outputs

that is correct the cd is the easiest to fix.

the directions for burning a cd for use with os7 is in the help section of system7today along with how to network these machines together  dan has a section devoted to osx to os 7 communication
15 Hardware / plotters in classic os

I would like a wide format plotter that runs in classic os it would be nice to operate in 7.6 but not mandatory.

i have been trying to understand how plottergeist and power plot work. But how do you connect to the plotter it will not likely be scsi?

please give any info you have s well as recommended plotters.
