I could hook up my 6400 to a 1200p monitor since I have the Radeon 7000 64MB PCI card, but do I want to? Not really. While it would absolutely be quite the experience, I don't feel the need to. I'm quite happy with this machine hooked up to a ViewSonic G771 running at 1024x768@85Hz. While I could try to hook up my 30 inch Cinema display to this, I won't be able to take advantage of the 2560x1600 resolution due to the GPU's limitations. For that I would need the Radeon 9250 PCI, and those are quite pricey!

With regards to the topic question, yeah, it's a great resolution especially for coding or writing documents or overall multitasking with a complex program and/or multiple programs. The extra space is excellent.

For technological, visual feedback reasons, however, I stick to a CRT using 1024x768@75Hz these days. I would not mind using a bigger CRT with higher resolutions, though, to get the best of both worlds, but I don't have access to such a luxury.
