1 Off Topic Discussion / Bryce 5 Free Version Until Sept. 6th

Unfortunately it is only for Mac OS 8.6 and up. I downloaded it and it runs great on 8.6 but won't run on Tiger. Cool to see it being given away free though.

Whenever I get the g.l.o.d. (which is very, I just take out the battery and hold down the reset button on the back for about 40 seconds to a minute. That usually fixes it right away. I've never had long-term problems.

5 Software / AIMM
June 16, 2006, 23:18
A favorite AIM program of mine for Mac OS 7-9 has been AIMM because of its simplicity. But for nearly a year now it hasn't been working. When I try to connect it just hangs. It seems that the old login address (login.oscar.aol.com port 5190) isn't working anymore. I've tried to use the same login address and port # as iChat, but that just kicks me off when it gets to the authorization part.

Does anyone have any experience with this? I much prefer AIMM to AOL IM when it comes to just simply chatting. I'm also trying to get in contact with its creators to see if they will give out the source so perhaps someone with a little bit of programing experience can take a look and perhaps fix it (:D). I'm sure I was not the only user of this program here.

9 Software / AIM not loading my buddylist?
May 15, 2006, 02:40
What I did to get my AIM Buddy list onto AIM 4 on my 2400c was to install AIM on my Powermac (OS X) and export my buddy list. If you have buddies that have email addresses (sjobs@mac.com, etc) you will have to open the exported buddy list in Text Edit or Word and manually remove those buddy names. AIM 3 and 4 do not accept email addresses.

Once you are done, import the edited buddy list into AIM 3 or 4. If there is still an error when you try to import, a dialog box will come up letting you know what line the error was on (example: Error on Line 46) so you can go back into Word and edit out that particular line. After all that fuss it should work perfectly. :)

10 Hardware / HELP!! Umax on the internet threw use of an eathercard
May 14, 2006, 08:00
I'm guessing by hooking it up to your router, you wish to get it online. This will obviously be easier once you get your mouse (;)), but basically if you have DSL you should be able to go into TCP/IP (located in the Control Panels) and select the ethernet card. Then select Using DHCP Server in the Configure menu. Close out, save settings, and you should be able to connect (provided that you have a browser). Hope that helps. :)

True. I know you are going to have the old Apple design, but in the end will it be Apple's forum or your own? I'm sure Apple wouldn't mind avatars and signatures. ;) Actually, the Apple.com forums have a sort of signature.

12 Hardware / PowerBook G3 Upgrades and System 7
May 09, 2006, 04:24
Quote from: "dpaanlka"

Keep in mind that the 2400 has much faster video and a faster processor bus speed than the 1400, but the 1400 has internal CD-ROM and a larger screen, and a famously comfortable keyboard to type on.

Although the 1400 has a larger screen, the resolution is exactly the same as the 2400c. Personally I prefer the sharper, smaller LCD of the 2400c.

Also, 2400c G3 upgrades are SUPER hard to find as Vimage is no longer a company. 1400 G3 upgrades can be seen on eBay quite regularly.

15 Software / LibMoto Extension Findings...
May 05, 2006, 21:08
I installed it on my 2400c and did a test in MacBench with it on and off. The results? a 48% increase in FPU speed! Insane. This needs to be out on the "Keeping it Current" page ASAP.
