Try Lido 7 on your LC. Maybe that will work (I am using Lido on every Mac).
2 Development / Experiments with Realbasic
February 08, 2026, 10:37
I'm currently working on programming for Macs and have started a small game – more for experimentation. Is there a way to play Amiga mods in RealBasic 2, or to use the functionality from the Hypercard plugin?

4 Software / Populous 2 2-Player possible?

Hi everyone. Does anyone know if or how you can play Populous 2 with two people via AppleTalk? I can't seem to get the two-player mode to work. I found the Connect dialog in resedit...

You also need a c64-Font for your mac to display petscii graphics. And Petscii <> Ascii. :-)

Well, there are some quality issues with Keyboards and other Things. I've bought my C64U Elite in 2023 or so together with a New C64C Case, Keyboard is the original one.

No, c64(U) isnt limited. It contains a 16MB REU (RAM Expansion with DMA), a Turbo Mode with up to 64 (48 on my Ultimate) MHz, WiFi/LAN and so on. And C64 Graphic System is more than a Displaybuffer. It provides 8 Sprites with collision detection, scrolling, line Interrupts,...

Yeah, some Mac Addons would be nice. A DOS Card for LCs or other cards :-)

Because the internet froze the 475 again, disaster struck. Almost all partitions were destroyed—including the disk drivers. Since I had just reinstalled, I didn't want to go through that again.

With every restart, another partition disappeared. Bad. I had already discovered that the driver was corrupted. So I reinstalled it (in my case, via Lido). Now I've downloaded Norton Utilities. The Disk Doctor is on the emergency disk. The problem before: I can't check the volumes because they're unavailable (defective). No problem. First, start any program. For example, TeachText. Now mount everything with SCSI Probe (in my case, in the Apple menu). As soon as the dialog appears asking to format or eject, terminate the task (TeachText). The dialog disappears—the defective volume remains connected to the system. It can now be selected within Disk Doctor.

Continue as needed and mount the other volumes. I removed the dummy teachtext task and ran Disk Doctor.

After a long wait, my partitions were saved. This made it clear to me that there would be no more internet access on the 68K until the crashing issue was resolved. Do anyone use a PDS-Network-Device? I can remember my IIvx with NuBus Asante Fast. There were no issues with the Internet.

12 Emulation / Re: Emulating the Commodore64 on a 68k Macintosh

forget it ;) i once had ccs64 on a 286-12. It was ...Well... good enough for Green beret. Emulating the 6510 is not the problem, but the other parts (screen updating, sprites, CIA,...) - thats the Thing. To emulate a c64 and allowing all Tricks and Things, a c64 could do, even a 68060 wouldnt enough for it.

A handful of readers is enough for me. If it gets too big, the pressure increases and the fun of creating diminishes. Plus, it's a time crunch to create more content. It's all just a pastime.

The German version of the latest issue 2/25, is available. The English version will follow shortly. The interview with Knezzen on the topic of HotStuff is worth mentioning. Enjoy reading, and many thanks to Knezzen for the interview.
15 Off Topic Discussion / Freezing after using Internet...

I have a problem with my Mac. As soon as I use the internet, e.g., with Network Time, I can no longer shut down or restart. Finder simply ignores the menu items and freezes a little later.

I've now installed MacsBug and opened it immediately after restarting. HZ says there are corrupted heap zones. HC shows me an address, Pointer to zone is Bad. Otherwise, everything else says OK.

Now the question: Could this have something to do with the freeze (but the computer runs without internet and can restart or shut down at any time). And how do I find out what's causing the freeze or where this bad pointer is coming from? It's almost at the beginning of the list. 2000 is syszone, 2240 is bad, then OK again.

Config: 475, 36 MB no virtual memory, system 7.5 (before 7.6 with same Probs), bluescsi wifi Extertal, SCSI2SD internal.
