1 Off Topic Discussion / Reminder for the Classic Macs FirstClass & Hotline servers...
November 14, 2024, 22:28
Reminder for the month of November for the Classic Mac's FirstClass server. We now have more than 100 members in our community! We have a permanent FirstClass server with over 430gb and 13,539 files to download for classic Macs. What is FirstClass? It's a GUI BBS for classic Macs from the 80's & 90's.  Not a lot of them around anymore but this is the best way to get apps for classic Macs that can not access websites easily. Just download this one app and you get access to all the files in the repo using a GUI...

Join to get great files and make new friends. To get detailed instructions on how to access the server go to http://macos.retro-os.live/index.php/firstclass/first-class-server-access and follow the steps...

If you need help getting your Mac online, I provide a CD with all the tools and utilities you may need for $3. For more info just go here: http://macos.retro-os.live/FC_CD - note you can download the .toast file for free there.

If you want to contribute, the Classic Mac website is at http://macos.retro-os.live where you can give feedback on the service. We also have a discord for Classic Macs at https://discord.gg/VGefxXp2ds.

PS: Here is the list of files available (so you can search to see if we have what you are looking for) sorted by date added: http://macos.retro-os.live/jdownloads/LatestFilesUnix.txt - that file is always up to date..

PS2: We now also have a Hotline server! Just go to macos.retro-os.live or look for the server name "Classic Macs Hotline Server". All the files there are the same as the FirstClass, Website & FTP servers.

If you have a FTP client you can also access the files with that... But I recommend the first class client as soon as you can download it... Also https is not required, I just put that there by force of habit. http:// works fine too.

13 Software / Need help testing my FirstClass client bootstrap CD process...
January 14, 2023, 20:31
I'm setting up a bootstrap client for my classic Mac FirstClass server and need people to help testing it. If you go to https://macos.retro-os.live/index.php/marketplace/product/16-firstclass-client-3-51-on-cd-rom and check out using the coupon code FCTEST you will only have to pay shipping.

This CD will include the FC client software plus other tools to bootstrap your classic Mac such as Stuffit, diskcopy, OTP & MacTCP too. If you need any other file let me know and I will add it and send you a replacement.

I could really use the help!

--- edit:
I am wanting to test out the purchase storefront, but if you just want the image it's here: https://macos.retro-os.live/index.php/downloads/download/44-internet/12970-firstclass-client-image-iso.

Yes, copying the image renamed as .iso to the host PC and burning from there, is the way go.

Thanks for the tips...

Hi, what I am trying to do is create physical CDRs and image files in SheepShaver. I have no issues mounting images themselves. If I insert a blank CDR Sheepshaver shows a "Audio CD" link which has one audio track in it. How do I work around this?

I've found to create image files in toast deluxe, but how do I burn those in SheepShaver or Windows?

--- Update:
I copied the image to my windows computer, renamed it to .iso instead of .toast and was able to burn it to CDR. Giving it a test now!

--- Update 2:
Yes that did the trick! Runs great on my SE/30...
