Quote from: "madmann" i hound an article that stated the control strip was intended for the powerbooks. and that it was only installed onto powerbooks with the easy installer. you will need to do a custom install. anyone else have a similar issue? The Control Strip was initially for PowerBooks only. It was included with the OS installers, but installed by default only on PowerBooks. Many people with desktops however found it useful and either extracted the Control Strip software from the installer Tome, or got it via a custom install. Starting either with System 7.5 or OS 7.6 Apple made the Control Strip available to all users. I have had it install by default with all the newer installers, and my 7.6 installer CD has installed it by default on all the systems I have installed it on. I am not sure why you are not getting the Control Strip to install. Is your installer CD from a Clone? Or perhaps from some other source. Have you used the installer to see if it installs the Control Strip on a PowerBook? Have you used something like "Tome Viewer" to see if the Control Strip software is on the installer CD? Good luck with your continuing quest. bill |

I don't think the 7.6.1 installer gave Control Strip as an option for my Quadra, either, unless I just missed it. Extracting the Control Strip control panel with TomeViewer worked fine.
