Yeah on System 7 and the early Mac OS 8 versions, I have been using Netscape Navigator for downloading from MG. But I have been using iCab for browsing on those older Macs.

How does iCab corrupt files? Can you further elaborate as to what the problem is? Maybe we can help to solve it.

An alternative for download on System 7 would be using a software like Monica? Just paste the URL and go.

>One thing I've discovered about iCab is that it doesn't let you save link as.

Does Link>Download... not work for you?

Biggest problem I've got with iCab is it keeps quitting!)

Yeah, I get that ocassionally too.

Anyway, since we're drifting from NS to iCab, we may want to continue in this iCab thread. It also might hold some good info for you @ShinobiKenobi on how to get the most out of iCab.

Hmm, I wonder if it might be tied to the version of iCab you're running?

Using version 2.9.9 68k version on Mac OS 8.1, I have no issues saving links as via the contextual menu. Perhaps a reinstall or trying the 68k copy of the iCab version you're having trouble with in case it didn't fully install correctly? (sometimes all you need is to trash the preference file to get things working properly again, no reinstall needed)

I am continuing the iCab discussion on the topic Bolkonskij linked to.
