Ever. since dragging a URL to a folder or desktop, it has been my preferred way of keeping and sorting book. You can use all the tools of the file manager to sort and organize them, with newer systems you can even add descriptive meta data and you can often just right click and choose the browser you wish to open the url with. Generally you can drag the "url file" into and open browser window, and you will just go there. Which saves the time of changing default browsers. It has worked very well for me. It is easy to move the folder from system to system, easy to back them up. Browsers tend to come with lots of pointless bookmarks. Just delete them all and use your trusty "bookmarks" folder. @cballero trick of adding the folder to the apple menu is darn handy as well. |

Thanks guys  that's just how I tend to Mac, especially since I use the navigable Apple menu folders!

So I've been daily using MacLynx beta 5 for a good month or so (ever since getting my IIci the BlueSCSI WiFi) and I've really grown to love it. It's fast on my 7.1 IIci. No memory leaks. Thanks to using a https proxy, I can access https pages as well. If I am not mistaken, it's the only browser on System 7 that offers in-built support for that (well iCab 2.9.9 has too, but I don't know of anyone who has gotten it to work) The only gripe I have with it is the handling of form elements like search boxes. You can't search the Mac Garden, you can't log into the forum here. If that would work, it'd be the absolutely go-to browser on anything System 7 these days. Oh and add a bookmarks menu. I've already sent @ClassicHasClass an e-mail about that, and Cameron said he'd look into it ... which is super cool! Btw, some of you may not be aware but MacLynx is also a very capable Gopher client, so you get the best of both worlds. Just try opening e.g. gopher://floodgap.com to see for yourself :-) you can easily switch between the two protocols. So just sharing my impressions with you. If you haven't, give MacLynx a try. It's the future of browsing on System 7!
