One more thing.

Many thanks Knezzzen for inviting me to join the community on this site. As posted at Macintosh Garden, I am running Mac OS 9.2.2, and my email app is Outlook Express 5.02.

My email host recently upgraded their servers. I can still receive emails, but I can not send. Many thanks also for proposing that I can send through your host server. Will pay handsomely each month for this ability. The email address used for my identity here at System 7 Today is my email address. My company, my single email address for it. I would send an average of 5 emails a day. No digital marketing to databases.

Below are the settings for sending emails with my Outlook Express 5.02. May I suggest that you copy the text here, add the data, and send me an email with the data filled in.

--

SMTP server:

SMTP service requires secure connection (SSL): Tick for yes or leave blank for no.

Override default SMTP port: Tick for yes or leave blank for no. If yes then number of port:

SMTP server requires authentication: Tick for yes or leave blank for no.

Use same settings as incoming mail server: I will leave blank for no.

Log on using account ID: I will fill this in with my email address.

Password: I will fill this in.

Save password: I will tick for yes.

--

Once again, many thanks for your kindness, and efforts.

Welcome to System 7 Today, Spinnr!

We could sure give it a try at least, getting your SMTP account working with our SSL mail relay service. Please read this page, so you understand how the service works.

I do need the address to the SMTP server you're using to be able to add it to the relay server :)
Something like smtp.mailprovider.com etc.

One more thing.

Many thanks Knezzen. Is there any more informtion you need? For Ventra IP they gave me four instructions below.

1. Tick override default SMTP port to 587.
2. Tick SMTP server requires authentication.
3. Account ID is my email address.
4. Password I can send to you with gmail.

Anything else you need just let me know.

One more thing.

Neglected to mention that the email hosting provider I use here in Australia has the following web site address, for any more information you may need.

ventraip.com.au

Happy to pay handsomely for your time in setup, and then pay a fee monthly for this ability.

Hello!

Awfully sorry for the delay. I updated the server with the new configuration but never updated the guide to reflect the changes.

You can find the updated tutorial here: http://system7today.com/tutorials/email-on-system7/
I hope it will work out for you :)

One more thing.

Many thanks. Will give it a try this afternoon. Do appreciate your efforts. Know you have two wonderful web sites to look after, so you have more pressing matters. Will report back.

Once again, many thanks.

One more thing.

Many thanks. You did good in giving this a go. And appreciate your efforts in trying to help a fellow Apple old OS comrade. Unfortunately, my Outlook Express 5, running in OS9, hangs while 'Connecting to' your mail address. No need to spend more time with this, was worth the effort. And am sure your OS7 configurations work, so any OS7naut reading this should give it a try.

Once again, many thanks.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues. How did you configure the client? I'm using Outlook Express 5 myself and it's working just fine. I'll doble check the configuration on the server. Maybe we can find something wrong together?

Hopefully we can get this working for you :)

I wonder if Spinnr's issue is tied or similar to the one posted here?
