Maybe we should open up a browser wars topic? ;-)

I've never paid much attention to Opera 5. Some days ago I installed it on my 8600. The Interface looks way more modern than Netscape 4.8's. While Netscape feels like the 90's, Opera clearly is already in the 2000's in terms of design.

Then I started to browse my first website. And I thought "wow, it renders that page really nice!". And then I clicked on something. And it crashed. Alright. Back to Netscape, then. :-D

You need to disable JavaScript, otherwise it’ll do that :P

I didn't realize Opera had a PPC version. I'm using it now. When visiting this site I get 'fatal error' and something about an ICQ number.

Going to test drive Opera for a bit and see how I fare with it.

EDIT: there are lots of security errors where I have to keep closing a box. The OS9Lives forum doesn't seem reachable either.

Theo and me just talked about this issue - we're looking into it. Remember, we're using a modern bulletin board that we backported 80-90% as of today. There's still a lot of JavaScript stuff in the background. We suppose that is what causes some browsers like Opera, IE etc. to choke. If work and family life permits, we'll soon push an update that should solve the issue :-)

Another note for you is that when using the Wikipedia proxy on The Old Net, in Opera and some other browsers I tried, it gives me about 15 similar errors before the page loads entirely. It seems to not do that in Netscape.h
