Hellp everyone! My name is Europa and I am elated to be able to post on this site. Ever since I first learned of it, I've dreamed of posting on the forum using my PowerBook 1400 in the classic Mac OS (currently running Mac OS 8.1, but might also install 7.6 sometime soon), and now my dream can come true!

I'm so excited to be a part of a new era on this site and I look forward to making so many amazing memories here with all of you!

Best wishes,
Europa~ <3

Welcome to the S7T forums, friend! :-)

Hope posting with the PB1400 works well for you? (I haven't finished backporting everything to 20th century HTML and am happy for bug reports)

Hope you'll have a great time here with your "obsolete 1400" and that S7T will help you to get the max out of your old PowerBook!

Thank you! It did work well over IE4 for Mac, with the only issue being I get a script error sometimes. Netscape 4 also works and I haven't gotten any such error. I was getting some error yesterday, but that seems to have gone away.

Browsing older-style sites on my 1400 is quite fun, even if it's a little unstable with internet access at times. :)

Yeah, Netscape 4 is the browser you'll want to use when browsing on System 7.
Actually that's the browser I use myself for testing and posting (like this post here :) )

Just wondering - what makes you stick to IE4? Nostalgia?

Ok, thanks for the advice! I was just testing both, not much ties me to IE tbh, it's just what I got working at the time. Netscape is a lot more stable from my experiences however, so I'll likely be sticking to that. :)

I have fallen for Opera and tend to use it the most on my 7.6.1 machine, a PowerMac 5500 :)

I'll definitely try it. I still need to settle on a browser for my 1400. Netscape 4.08 struggles to load some parts of some pages and IE 4 isn't the most stable, so I'll be sure to try it :)

I think it's hard to stick with one browser nowadays. I have them all installed on my systems and they all have their pros and cons. Opera is one of of the best though, at last in my opinion.

They are both pretty decent, Europa :)

I know that both iCab and Opera were my two of my favorite web browsers for PPC Macs running System 7, with Opera edging out the other. Having said that, Opera was a little more ambitious with web site rendering since it was optimized for speed, so that made it a little more prone to crashes, but it wasn't as bad as it sounds at all. It felt like the fastest browser back then. Keep in mind that the web was a lot leaner too because of how slow dial-up was, even with the super-fast 56kbps ones.

Ok, thanks for the info! Yeah, I tend to only visit sites like this site and the Macintosh Garden on older browsers because I know they'll work without an issue for the most part. :)
