Welcome to the forum! Do post something... if you do, the forum will be less inactive, right? |

Hey, uh, just in case Cameron Kaiser is reading this forum I want to go on record as saying that Classilla is kinda cool. I like it, anyways!

Emulation / 68K Macintosh Emulation in Linux
September 19, 2010, 11:18 |
So here's something that I've been working on over at my own site: http://emaculation.com/doku.php/basiliskii_linux_setup It is setup notes for, and some new builds of, Basilisk II for Linux. Basilisk II is an emulator of 68K Macintosh computers and a good way to play around with System 7 on a modern computer (there are OS X and Windows ports available, also). Just thought some people here might find the guide useful! |

New Member Welcome / Returning to System 7
August 22, 2010, 16:46 |
Welcome back to System 7! There's a whole lot of great software out there. This site has some good downloads, and you can find some stuff at Macintosh Garden, too. One perk of running System 7 in the emulator is that it runs real fast... |

Off Topic Discussion / Classilla is Coming

Really looking forward to this. It should render pages much better than iCab, which is what I use now for the most part. Particularly looking forward to trying this out in SheepShaver (just for kicks) which is very crashy with the browsers currently available. |

Software / Decor not working... help!
December 09, 2008, 01:02 |
You're not using an unstable build of Mini vMac, are you? Because if that's the case, Decor won't work. That's a bug. (I mention that only because I notice you posted on my mac emulation forum a few weeks ago) |

I think that the official site still has it: ftp://ftp.povray.org/pub/povray/Old-Versions/ Check out version 3.1 Quote from: "jeffao" All POV ray links (for mac os 7) are dead wherever I look. |

Software / MP3 Player

You just download the "pls" file of the specific stream from the shoutcast website and drag it on over like an mp3! |

Software / MP3 Player

I use Mpegdec, though I didn't see it listed in the software guide. It plays MP3s, and can stream from the internet. I listen to a lot of shoutcast streams using it. A very nice MP3 player for System 7. |

Software / stuffit files blow up SheepShaver
August 22, 2008, 12:53 |
If you are running System 7 and you don't specifically need to run PPC-only applications, it might be worthwhile to try Basilisk II instead of Sheepshaver. It's a little bit more suited to the purpose. Meanwhile, if you are using a crappy ROM image for Sheepshaver, switching over involves using a new ROM, so that could help all by itself. |

Operating System / internet on system 7
August 22, 2008, 12:43 |
Hey, I guess I'm two months too late, but I just wanted to point out that getting online within SheepShaver is very easy, although it isn't really documented properly. It works the same as in Basilisk II (which might be a better emulator for System 7). In the network tab of the Sheepshaver GUI select "Basilisk II Router" to enable SheepShaver to share your internet connection. And then set it up within System 7. There are some instructions for what settings to configure over here: http://www.emaculation.com/basilisk/online.html That uses screenshots from Basilisk II, but the process is exactly the same. |
