What MP3 player do you folks use in Mac OS? I notice that SoundJam MP Free is listed in the System 7 Today software guide. I also see that Movie Player is listed in there too. While I wouldn't exactly call Movie Player an MP3 player -- and System 7 Today doesn't call it an MP3 player either -- it will quite happily play your MP3s with the right version of Quicktime. I'm presently using Audion 3 in Mac OS 8.6. Quickly perusing the site of Panic Software, I see that Mac OS 8.6 is the bare minimum that they claim to support*. I'm curious, however, if anyone has ever tried to run Audion 3 in System 7.6? *Audion 3 is no longer supported by the developers and has been released into the wild for free. |

I know that Audion 3 does not work, but I can't be sure about version 1 or 2, as I've never been able to find them, and I was satisfied with SoundJam MP anyway.

I use Mpegdec, though I didn't see it listed in the software guide. It plays MP3s, and can stream from the internet. I listen to a lot of shoutcast streams using it. A very nice MP3 player for System 7.

wait, Mpegdec will do shoutcast streams? How do you make it do that? It was already my favorite System 7 MP3 player, so now I guess it's my favorite favorite System 7 MP3 player!

You just download the "pls" file of the specific stream from the shoutcast website and drag it on over like an mp3!
