Operating System / Downgrade from OS 9

Thanks for your fast reply, dpaanlka! So far, looking for such a 7.6.1 CD seems to be a fairly time-consuming or expensive proposition compared to otehr options :/ Wondering if it would be best to quickly go with a Linux installation for Macintosh PPCs for now (e.g., Debian GNU/Linux), well before undertaking the OS 7.6.1 downgrade. Isn't there a way to get a pre- OS 7.6.1 CD via a free download and patch up to 7.6.1 ?? Otherwise, the current cost-to-benefit ratio of downgrading a slow-but-working OS 9 system on a PowerPC to OS 7.6.1 may not make this worth it for the time-being

Hi Am a PC-person very used to Windows 9x and Linux. Just purchased an old PowerPC 7300 real cheap and am joining this System 7 forum. The CPU of this PowerPC reminds me of the older 266MHz PentiumIII SEC cartridge! |
