These things are finicky but that adapter should work. Try another monitor, one capable of higher resolutions than the 14" crt. If that still doesn't work I can send you one for the cost of postage (if you are in the US). I have a bunch of them and they have always worked for me on my PPC systems - it has the dip switches and supports a good many resolutions. Just PM me.

It's a fun hobby, especially if you remember these machines from your younger days.

This site has a lot of resources. Another good site is macintoshgarden.org

Hopefully your box has an ethernet connection, that'll make loading stuff a lot easier. Enjoy!

All but 1 (ran 5 through) came out fine. One has an intermittent apple key after it's trip through the wash.

I guess the SCSI drive is just much faster. I know that's not always the case today but even 5 years ago, SCSI generally beat SATA in throughput

Yes that has to be nice! I have 7.6 on a powermac 7300 and it's amazingly fast but my box has no where near the specs of your 9500
10 Operating System / 7.6 on Performa 550

Thanks for the feedback. It'll be a good experiment anyway. The box has 12MB of RAM, if I have the sticks I'll max it out and give it a go.
11 Operating System / 7.6 on Performa 550

I just salvaged an older mac headed to the dump. It's in great condition and is running 7.5.3 currently.

It's not a real speed demon (I think has a 68030). Should I put 7.6 on it? What has been experience here with 7.6 on non-PPC macs?

Thanks,
Rick

I'd start the ftp server on your OSX box using instructions here

http://sveinbjorn.org/macosx_ftpserver_howto

Then I'd put an ftp client like Fetch or Transmit on the System 7 box and use it to access OSX

Transmit is here
http://main.system7today.com/software/transmit/transmit.html

Good luck!

This upgrade card says it is for the 7200 but does it work with other PCI powermacs?

yeah from reading the forums I don't think USB will fly on this mac. Better off getting a zip drive if you absolutely can't get on the network.
