I just salvaged an older mac headed to the dump. It's in great condition and is running 7.5.3 currently. It's not a real speed demon (I think has a 68030). Should I put 7.6 on it? What has been experience here with 7.6 on non-PPC macs? Thanks, Rick |

Hi Rick, The Performa 550 is a 68030 @ 33MHz so it's not that bad! If you bring it to the maximum 36MB of RAM, System 7.6.1 should work very well on this machine! François

Thanks for the feedback. It'll be a good experiment anyway. The box has 12MB of RAM, if I have the sticks I'll max it out and give it a go.
