1 Operating System / Performa Looping on Startup
September 05, 2015, 23:15
I'm new to the vintage computing world, so thank you in advance for any advice about this problem.

My Performa 550 (running 7.6.1) was accidentally unplugged while running. Since then, when I turn it on, it goes into an infinite loop of: happy Mac face, then gray screen with cursor in the corner, then happy Mac face, over and over.

I tried zapping the PRAM several times, but still the infinite loop on startup.

Should I create a System 7.6.1 Disk Tools floppy and try booting from that and running diagnostics on the system? Should I attempt to do a clean install of system software?
