News & Announcements / Re: System 7 Today is back!!! (aka comeback of the year)
February 09, 2021, 17:07 |
Wow what a blast from the past to receive the announcement in my inbox this morning. Congrats to Knezzen & Bolkonskij! Well done. It's been 10+ years since I've booted up any of my old Macs. Maybe I need to rekindle the hobby during these quarantine days. Regardless, looks like I'll be adding System 7 Today back into my daily browsing rotation. |

Sounds like a great project, looking forward to your updates. If it works, perhaps I'll consider it for my 5500... |

Hardware / 3400c online with a Buffalo AirStation card
June 06, 2006, 06:29 |
I picked up a Buffalo Technology card (model WLI-PCM-L11G) off eBay for $20. The seller claimed it worked with System 7.5.x - 9.0. The Buffalo downloads page lists the driver as good for OS 8 - 9, but I downloaded it anyway. Turns out it really does support System 7. I'm using it with 7.6.1 on my 3400c/200 right now. It is a bit flaky though... having problems getting it to work when I switch from the partition of 8.6 to 7.6.1 on the Powerbook - had to reinstall the drivers, but it's been working great since. All the more reason to stick with 7.6.1, I guess. Anyway, here's another option for those wanting to run wifi on their old Powerbooks + 7.6.1.

Classifieds / Insane deal on fast Power Macs
May 10, 2006, 07:39 |
I've actually got the fastest non-G3 AIO... a 5500/275. They only sold them in Europe, bought mine from a guy in The Netherlands via eBay a few months ago. It's a black beauty. Don't have any pics at the moment, but I'll take some soon. Oh, and 7.6.1 is crazy fast. I've got the HD partitioned into 2 sections - one for OS 9.1 and the other for 7.6.1. It's also running a Sonnet G3 400 MHz upgrade at the moment. 7 was fast before the upgrade, now it's just plain silly. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac/stats/powermac_5500_275.html |

Operating System / Are you running Mac OS 7?
March 07, 2006, 00:30 |
Currently, my PB 520c is on 7.1.something and my SE/30 is on 7.1.something as well. I'm trying to take my PB 3400c down from 9.0.4 to 7.6.1, but am waiting for the special 7.6.1 CD to arrive in the mail. Oh, and my LC is running 7.0.something. That old thing hasn't been booted up in at least 5 years... I should really give it some love. |
