Hardware / PowerMac G4 Quiksilver here
January 18, 2009, 21:57 |
It has a 867 Mhz processor, 60gb hard drive, 512mb RAM, and a 2x CD-R/DVD-RW Superdrive. It is running Mac OS X Panther (10.3.9) which is perfect for me because I can still use my older programs under Classic mode. This is the one I use most often, especially for managing my photos and for my writing. |

Operating System / correction: it is a Power Mac 4400/200
January 18, 2009, 21:46 |
I screwed up there...I have a PowerMac 4400 with a 200 Mhz PowerPc processor. I was thinking of the PowerMac I used to have when I was a teenager...I apologize for the confusion. http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powermac/stats/powermac_4400_200.html |

Operating System / Thanks to those who helped me!
January 18, 2009, 21:38 |
To "Dpaalanka" I checked out eBay and bought the boxed CD set...by the way, I have a Powermac 9600. I bought it at a garage sale for $50 and it came with a compatible monitor as well as the original keyboard and mouse. The man who sold it to me said he stopped using it when he bought an iMac back in '98. He recommended I upgrade the Powermac to OS 7.6.1 because he heard that it was the best version of OS 7 to come out. Luckily for me, the computer came with some software, most notably Microsoft Office for Mac. Thanks for helping me out. |

Operating System / need help finding an OS 7.6.1 install CD
January 13, 2009, 03:24 |
I have tried website after website and all they offer as far as classic OS is either OS 8 or OS 9, but I can't find a CD-ROM of OS 7.6.1, which is what I need for my beige PowerMac desktop. Can anyone help me out? I would greatly appreciate it! ---n3r0 |

New Member Welcome / New user from east metro Atlanta area
January 13, 2009, 03:22 |
Hello, everyone! I would like to introduce myself. My name is Kev, better known as "n3r0". I live in Covington, in the east metro Atlanta area. I have two Macs, a PowerMac G4 QuickSilver running OS X Panther 10.3.9 and a PowerMac beige desktop currently running Mac OS 7.5. I discovered this website through a Google search on Mac OS 7 Forums. I look forward to taking part in the various forums here and learning how to fully take advantage of my beige PowerMac desktop usuing OS 7.5, though I would like to upgrade to OS 7.6.1 but am having great difficulty finding an OS 7.6.1 installation CD-ROM from other websites, since they are all about OS X these days. |
