apple discourages using the scsi disk mode to install a new os their recommendation is to connect the powerbook to a desktop mac using apple share this will allow the installer to correctly identify the machine. michael |

Apple discourages lots of things... like running any version of the Classic Mac OS. :-) That's we are all here on S7T though.

true I was reading the 8.1 install book and found this reccomendation and thought it was worth passing on.

Well, the ideal case would be to install from the computer that is going to be running it. There isn't one big universal System 7 package for every computer. When you run the installer, it selects the most appropriate software for your system and installs it.
