CMD-OPT-SHIFT-DELETE-# The # is the id-number of the drive you want to start your mac from. This's very handy for double booters as there's no need to restart. It do not change your selection of start-up drive, so next time it'll start from that again. This is how I'm doing it now myself. There's also another way that works with some macs. Pressing D-key during a start, boots a mac from the first partition of the first/master HD. This works with an IDE drive too. |

I used the D-key with X & 9 combo, with 9 as the main OS. X was in the first partition of the first HD and 9 in another HD, which I selected as the start-up disk. If I needed X, I just pressed D during a boot.

You can also force a machine to boot into os x by holding down the x key during startup
