I worked through the help section.  updated open tran. and apple share as well as laser 8.6.  I got to the Verify printer and I keep getting the message unable to verify printer.  My printer is a multi function Brother 4800.  any ideas?

Try enabling personal web sharing on your OS X computer, and see if you can connect to it via a web browser on your System 7 computer.  This way we can be sure there isn't a connection problem.

I have the file sharing working per the s7t help center.
The only odd thing is when I got the list of ltems that I could access it would not let me check the boxes giving me an error to the effect that I can not connect on start up with this version. However if I double clicked the drive I wanted it came upon the desk top no problem.  Every thing works fine but I have to accept the disks one at a time.  But the print sharing will not work as mentioned above. I tried the personal web sharing and from the system 7 machine i got a page stating that the software was loaded from apache.

Could it be that my printer is not postscript?

after much search it appears that 10.2 will not print share like described in the help center.  I have 10.4 loaded on a second drive on my b&W and it worked no problem so now I have to figure out why 10.4 runs so slow or is that normal.  I expect its normal  firefox takes much longer to load

Printing is much more useful in 10.4 than it was in 10.2.  A B&W is a bit of a light weight for 10.4. If you are booting into other OSes on the B&W everytime you boot into 10.4 Spotlight will need to redo the index on the harddrives, which will slow 10.4 down quite a bit until the indexing comletes and depending on drive size that could take a bit of time.

Thanks Bill The B&W is a sonnet 700 mhz G4 with 1 gig of ram. It should be acceptable for a while longer I hope.  After leting the machine set for sone hours running 10.4 it has gotten a lot better.  Thanks for the help.  I know that was some of the issues.

Yeah doing all the spotlight indexing will take a while.

You can also go to Activity monitor to see if anything is eating all the CPU power.

But a 700mhz G4 with a gig of RAM should be fine.
