You might try and install an application that is for PPC only to see if it will install. This is a link for downloading Guage Pro a utility from Newer that provides a variety of system information. bill

Hi Wove, I don't have the right cables so I can't get anything on these boxes except what I have on CD, they're not connected to the internet or my LAN yet. I couldn't load Mac OS 8.5 on that box but I think it was because of some checks it does, not because it can't actually run. Thanks for the link, I'll have a look there. Cheers, Rand

If you have Apple System Profiler you can use that. If it's not in your Apple Menu, hit Command+F and search for it.
