Does anyone have experience with the PB100 and OS6.0.8L? I won one on eBay and I was thinking about running 6.0.8L for the speed. I would use Claris Works 2.0. |

System 6.0.8 was a special version for the Classic, Classic II, LC and the PowerBook 100. So I'd suggest: you give it a try! ;-) Download: Disk 1: ftp://ftp.phil.uni-sb.de/pub/mac/system/System_6/608st.sit Disk 2: ftp://ftp.phil.uni-sb.de/pub/mac/system/System_6/608ad.sit Enjoy! Demyan

I installed OS 6.0.8 on a Mac Classic once and it worked fine without any aditional updates. Anyway, I never saw a classic Mac that was not fully supported by the proper system version. Demyan

The PB100 currently has OS 7.0.1 which works fine, but I have a herd of OS 7 computers and wanted to try OS6. I'll see how it goes.

I have System 6 still running on my "silent" LC (No HDD, 10MB RAM, RamDisk+, boot from floppy or ZIP 100). For a simplified and efficient computing experience, I highly recommend it. Apple keeps moving their archives around, but 6.0.8L is still there, last I checked. My only problem with a PB 100 today is getting a battery for it. Good luck with your adventure! Oh yes, if you aready have a modern computer, you can run system 6 under mini vMac.
