I'm currently working on programming for Macs and have started a small game – more for experimentation. Is there a way to play Amiga mods in RealBasic 2, or to use the functionality from the Hypercard plugin?

I presume @knezzen would know! He's pretty deep into RealBasic. I've sent him the link to this thread.

Definitely knezzen is your man for RealBasic.

He did HotStuff the Hotline client in it, and has been known to hang out there.  That involved a lot of...plugin? addons?...whatever they are called for RealBasic.  There are tons out there that might do what you need.

Sorry for the very late reply! I'm sure I've seen a class or plugin that can handle this at some point in time. There's a huge amount of RealBasic stuff at our Hotline server. Go and have a look if you can find something that does what you need.

In the meantime I will think long and hard about this. I'll get back to you! :)

I never messed with Realbasic, but I learned to program in BASIC on the VTech PreComputer 1000, and in high school, I took a class on Programming in True BASIC in the Macintosh keyboarding lab.

I've honestly forgotten so much about BASIC. Is there much difference between Realbasic and True BASIC?

Also, is Realbasic 2 the recommended version to make the most compatible programs for all of classic Mac OS?

RealBasic 2 is quite crippled and a lot of plugins and classes require version 3.x and up. I usually stick to RealBasic 3.5.2 for the reason that it's the last version that supports 68k as a target, but supports Carbon as well.

So using the same codebase you can target 68k and PowerPC PEF (System 7.1 to Mac OS 9.2.2) and Mac OS X (10.1 to 10.6 using Rosetta).

It's what I use to develop HotStuff.
