Hello everyone, Going by the date of registration of S7T-founder Dan Palka's account on the forums, it would appear System 7 Today turns twenty this year! Is this observation correct? If so, congratulations to Dan and System 7 Today on the achievement! |

haha, you're right! In fact, it HAS already turned 20 years back in fall of 2025. The first version of S7T started out back then. Quite the achievement in this fast-paced world! Now we're going for 30 next :-) Unfortunately, Dan has left the community about 10 years ago. Luckily, he was kind enough to hand it over to knezzen and myself instead of letting it die, which was a super cool move by him. I was hoping he'd come by from time to time and write a few lines. Perhaps this topic will motivate him to write a bit more about the "humble beginnings" of S7T? We're all ears, Dan :-)

Do we even know if he hasn't joined Steve Jobs already?

He was last active somewhere in 2023, according to his profile. Well, his account was, but I have seen situations where an update to the forum resets the last activity date to the date the update took place, so anything is possible. But if he started System 7 Today in the fall of 2005 as a student, and we assume he was 18 years old when he did, he would be in his late thirties. I sincerely hope he hasn't yet joined Steve Jobs! It is indeed quite an achievement. Handing S7T over to a new crew was indeed a very good decision, but the best decision was opening up the forums in the first place. Since, if it hadn't been for the forums, this place would have ceased to exist many, many years ago. I quite like this little hangout. And so does my Quadra 700, because it doesn't choke whilst browsing it!

Dan is alive and well for all I know. I wrote him a year ago or so, and it looks like he's active on the web here and there. So no need for speculations about that

I'll take this opportunity to thank Knezzen and Bolkonskij for their work to keep System 7 Today going. Well done!
