At some point in the past I had used the OS 9 installer from MacOS9Lives to install OS9 on the mini. I did not use use it very much and at some point I installed OS X Tiger and for a good while I have been using my OpenDoc applications in "Classic". Although I am sure a messy desktop is strictly a user problem, I have always found that OS X makes it easier to keep the desktop clutter free. I was cleaning up a pile of desktop Icons and I came across an Apple Script icon titled "Start OS9". I was not sure how it got there or where it came from, but when I double clicked it the Mini restarted and came up in OS 9. So anyway I have been using the mini for the last year or so, oblivious to the fact that I had a dual boot system. I had been thinking about backing stuff up and doing a drive with partitions (the right way?) so I could run either OS 9 or OS X and possibly even adding 7.6.1. I bought an external drive just for such a purpose. This is how messing with vintage tech fills all your free space with bits and and pieces of gear. |
