picked up a 15" mid 2009 2.53ghz C2D MacBook Pro doesn't have the Nvidia 9600GT gpu just the 9400M on the bottom part of the hinge theres a couple crack's and dents that and the logic board is very dirty (dust and white fish-smelling crumb's maybe from fish stick's) the display though is unaffected does anybody have any ideas without replacing the display on how to fix such abnormalities with the hinge's heres a screenshot love the wallpaper fit's the late 2000's apple astethic very nicely spec's http://revontulet.org/2025/04/21/5e95bc5ca0a248cdbd82de12262ca1a3.png Wallpaper in all of its 1440x900 glory http://revontulet.org/2025/04/21/0a761a89bd974be1b9e8e2d1188713b3.png |

That is one nice machine. I have the same 2009 MBP with mine being the 17" display. In terms of perceived performance it certainly feels very very fast. It is one of my most regularly used machines. It holds a lot of the productivity software I have used for years and it save a great deal of electricity over using my PM G5 which also runs Leopard. iFixit has a guide to taking these machines apart and removing the screen to clean up the hinge area and such is fairly easy, assuming you have moderate dexterity and the tools, (spudger and screwdrivers) needed. If you remove the DVD, hard drive, battery, speakers, you can soak the entire bottom case in isopropyl alcohol. Make sure you let it dry well, maybe a couple days before reassembly. New feet and bottom cover screws are available cheaply on ebay. I have had mine for 2-3 years now and it has never given me any trouble. I got a new battery that gives me ~4hrs of run time, bumped the RAM to the 8GB max and installed a 240GB SSD. Everything I have read about the 2009 MBPs indicates they are very rugged reliable machines. They will natively run up to El Capitan and with OpenCore they can go further. But for an unbelievably fast machine Leopard is unbeatable.
