Cool, but it's just silence for me when trying to stream for some reason.

Very nice, thanks. I added the stream to my internet stations play list. The stream works with Apple Music/iTunes as well. It plays with a bit of a regular pulse. Solid stream for ~10 seconds, then a stutter, then back to a solid stream. Maybe we are all overloading your server?

Nice job!

Not my type of music, but still great - the more possibilities, the better.

Care to tell us a bit more on how you set it all up?

Rhythmbox is an old Linux music player that often comes with a few pre-installed stations streamed by Ubuntu. One of the stations is called Trance and the music it streams is similar to 17lifers station.

It is outside my normal listening fare. It is feels a bit too heavily produced. It seems to be constructed much like commercial jingles or country-western. When I set out to listen to music it is not the usual direction I take. However it does make for a nice music background, in a similar vein to the rain or waves tracks that are used for background white noise. When I am trying to “do something” I find music with vocals very distracting.

Thanks for putting the station up. I tune in fairly often, when I am futzing around, it is a pleasant non-invasive background sound track.

I am running it with Nicecast on the Mac OS X 10.5 setup. Knezzen helped me set it up.

I did not get a good experience unfortunately (using Soundjam).
Plays for around 25 secs then stops. Sounds like it's playing at half speed, and the audio levels are too high, causing distortion.

Hope it can be resolved, but switching back to http://sc2b-sjc.1.fm:7704/ in the meantime.

So I tested the stream file produced when connecting with iCab to your link called audio.mpeg using MPEGDEC. While the file when dropped in MPEGDEC's drag-and-drop window does not playback, it actually does if the extension at the end would read as .mp3! Another site also produced an audio.mpeg file as well, but renaming them to.mp3 made them playable but you break the stream of course :(

I learnt this from another site I tested that MTT kindly posted in a post he wrote specifically about streaming on 68k:

http://icecast.radiofrance.fr/fip-midfi.mp3

When I drag the desktop file iCab creates when going to this link, the radio stream starts playing perfectly, so the key is in the extension MPEGDEC is expecting to see! :o

If I knew how to look at underlying code I'd love to add .mpeg to MEPGDEC's allowed extension list!! 8) it would sure make streaming these online sites from this MP3 marvel a breeze ;)
