And now HotStuff ALMOST have functioning uploads for 68k. For some reason I get a bus error when closing the resource stream on 68k, but not on PowerPC. Everything rewritten to use the ResourceStream plugin. Too tired now. More to follow tomorrow :)

It’s not when closing the stream, it’s something else that gives the bus error. Had an hour over this morning to check it out before going to our summer house. Will continue searching for the problem this evening.

Over and out (for now) :)

It's time for a new official release if I get the uploads to work.
Time to get back on Hotline for you, 68040! :)

Well, not sure what's supposed to be there. My last chat on HL wasn't very productive to say the least.

FC on the other hand seems to be too calm & quiet. Guess its lose, lose either way.

I will be back soon in HL. Re-Installing the 475. Filesystem Errors getting more abd more weird. MacTCP Controlpanel was lost - Well, it was invisible and couldnt be opened (...is protected or used by another program).

Shut down wasnt possible - finder freezes. Reboot wasnt possible - finder works like nothing happened or freezes. Hopefully, the Reinstall will help.

Hey Knezzen,

I've been meaning to check in and offer my services as a Guinea pig for m68k hotstuff...since when I'm on hotline, its my daily drive.

Looks like you might be right at the cusp of a new official release.  If not, and you need any more testers, let me know.

I need some help! Something is causing a bus error on 68k, both on true hardware and emulated on PowerPC (tested on System 7.5.5 on my 540c and on Mac OS 9.2.2 on a G4). If you’re up for some MacsBug KungFu, give me a shout. I can upload the latest build to Hotline in a few hours.

Tested:
Downloaded using old hotstuff on m68k.  hqx file was bad.
Downloaded using old hotstuff on ppc.  hqx was good.
Unstuff'd hqx file on m68k.
Used new hotstuff to download fresh copy on m68k.  hqx was good.
Unstuff'd THAT copy and it ran with no probs on m68k.

So the download bug is DEFINITELY fixed!

Now...on fix the crash at end of upload on m68k...

Done already ;)

I just released version 2.0.62 of HotStuff and it's a DAMN GOOD RELEASE (yes, it's worth the caps)! Get it while it's Hot at the usual place.

From the version history file:
Quote
2.0.62
•Made a few changes to the GUI to make it more consistant in terms of look and feel.
•Window rendering is now 2-3 times faster on 68k compared to previous versions
•Bug fixed that made HotStuff crash HARD on some System 7.1-7.6.1 machines if Appearance Manager wasn't loaded.
•Uploading and downloading now works on 68k, even with uncompressed files containing resource forks (finally!!!)
•Total feature parity between the three (68k, PowerPC, Carbon) targets finally obtained!

The bus error was an easy fix when I found the offending line of code.
In the sub routine UpdateOurListing there's a some code that updates the file listing of the file window when a upload is done (to reflect the new file/files that now reside in there).

This line tries to get the file comments of the newly added file.

Code: [Select]
Msg=Msg+Pstring(GetFileComment(LocalFile))

For some reason getting the comments seems to be too soon the way it was done earlier but only for the 68k target. Moving it later in the chain of events results in no bus error on 68k.

Do you have any idea, lauland? :D

I'm sure I'm missing something here... I downloaded the HotStuff client (took 30 minutes to unstuff with a 68040 CPU and 128 m/b of ram) and fired it up and I do not get any visual screen at all. I do get some items up in the menu bar. Also, looking in the folders unpacked, there's nothing pre-populated such as "servers" like HotLine does. Does this client have to be setup from scratch? The screen shot on M/G sure looks a whole better than Hotline. Thanks to Knez for all his hard work! I'm just not sure what to do with it after I fire it up. I certainly don't get this screen... 😕
