I read John Gruber's Daring Fireball blog. He mostly keeps track of the latest Apple goings on, like the rumored upcoming AR headset.

Today though he linked to this site, which a fellow talks about the joy of his old Mac (Classic II). I have not visited the site with an old browser, but the site seems that it would work with about anything.

Working fine on System 7 browsers!

The website is definitely done by "one of us" who has know-how of services useful today. I second his sentiment too, I think he pretty much sums up what we love our classics for.

I loved the whole site including the author's subsequent article as well titled, 'I Don't Understand Why We Throw Away Perfectly Working Things', which is the state of today: people would rather replace slightly old models of anything, like a perfectly fine, working microwave, for a newer model. Like straight to the trash, instead of seeing if a reused items shop would take it (granted, many outfits may reject more vintage items, which maybe there's a potentially untapped market right there, no?)

Thanks for sharing such a nice, inspiring, and definitely compliant website on any modern or vintage web browser! :)

Quote from: article
This Mac is unchanging in a world where things change by the minute. It will never receive another software update and is thoroughly obsolete, but it's comforting to have something that you know will stay the same forever, remaining in a known state every time you return to it.

When using this Mac I don't have to worry about my data being stolen or being spied on. What happens between the Mac and myself stays between us. I can tell it my thoughts and my secrets without wondering if it's going to share them with others, or with corporations.

I have total control over this computer, no one else can tell it what to do and the computer makes no real attempt to stop me from misbehaving.

See my initial post about gopher bookmarks.

It works fairly well, is bare bones (in a positive sense!) and is fast even on my 68030 IIci. I created a clickable bookmark with TurboGopher, so every time I want to look up something, I just double-click it and am taken to Gopherpedia.
