Quote from: Neal_SE30 What software do i use to convert the os to multiple floppies? System 7.1 came on floppy disk and the Mac Garden should hold both 800k and 1.4 MB images. Write them to disk using one of your bridge machines and then install from the floppy. I think 7.1 came with 6 or 7 HD floppies but you probably don't need the printer drivers and Quicktime 1.5. So you essentially just need the first four to get a stable basic system going. |

Ok so my install didn’t quite go to plan. That said it was really useful as i’ve not installed an os or gone that deep into the old mac os since i replaced the original 40mb hd when it became sticky 6 years ago. Anyway 9 hours later it worked but i managed to put the wrong os on 7.0.1. Which is to old to run my software so i’ll need to wipe it again lol. I am however much better prepared. Software, extensions etc ready. I lot of floppy disk swapping later before the hard drive was partitioned and working. I do have some questions though. I used my g3 to download from mac garden via a cheap usb floppy drive i had lying around. Problem i’ve had is formatting the floppy disks. Though that in itself was ok using macos standard with classic ticked. The problem I’ve been having seems weird, the moment i used the disks in the se/30 they then would’t read again in the g3 and required re-formatting through disk utility. Odd i’ve not had that issue before. Any ideas? Most of time was formatting disks. Lesson learned is add the zip100 extension as soon as base os is on, so much easier with a 100mb than hundreds of floppies. I found i had a lot of dude floppies.
