I am currently playing some Escape Velocity, its great fun. Never got much into it before when i was little. Have gotten my first new ship a Courier which i can zip around and deliver cargo. How far have you guys gotten in this game? As far as i understand there is not end in it. |

Well, it's been 20+ years since I played it for real. But I distinctly remember running a fleet along my Corvette ship (I think?) and having confed cruisers as ecorts, eventually sacking entire solar systems. Those fleet vs. fleet battles were nerve-wrecking, sweaty hands inclusive :-D EV has a main plot but you can basically do whatever you like. I found it always easier to do my own thing first and only later pick sides once I'm strong enough (as you'll become a persona non grata with the other side). But yes, you could continue playing forever. (granted, it gets a bit tiresome after some hundred hours )Playing cargo ship is great for the beginning to get used to the game. I remember I made tons of money by rushing medical supplies between planets but the awesomeness of EV is that there's plenty of opportunities and never just "one correct way".

What a great game! Not played recently as my gamepad is misbehaving and I find it hard to go back to keyboard. I've got a Corvette at the moment, but I'm not very good in combat, and can only tackle less able ships. If you like tackling pirates you'll find certain systems have more than others... venture out to the edges of the universe! There are several guides around, and plug-ins which do things like change graphics.

I have now discovered all the planets. I wonder if the rewards for the missions will go up any? The biggest reward ive gotten now is 50k but those shipments are very rare :/ Btw did you know that in the map selection you can shiftclick planets to create a route, then you can just keep pressing hyperspace button continously and it will go along the route

You'll need to visit the Spaceport bars for increasingly interesting and difficult missions... Hire at least 3 escorts if you want more pirate action. Note escorts will increase your cargo size for basic trading purposes, but not missions.
