Hi all, after years of playing with Mac OS 8 and 9, I'm getting back into System 7.

I'm running System 7.5.3 and setting up Launcher. How can I create Launcher tabs (like, "Applications", "Documents")? I tried adding a folder within my Launcher Items folder, but that didn't make it a tab. Command-clicking within Launcher only lets me change the icon size.

What am I missing here?

Launcher Items folders' names must be preceeded by • if you want to create pages in Launcher.f

Welcome to System 7 Today! *waves*

Do you deliberately need to use launcher or just a utility that helps launching apps?

I'm using a customized Apple Menu for that and I love it. No cluttering of my rare screen estate. Here's an article on it I wrote for the S7T Tutorials.

P.S. One tip - if you're uploading stuff, use the Mac Garden image uploader. It's a screen sharing utility you can use directly (!) from your System 7 Mac and it works nicely without SSL, so those of us on old hardware can also see the screenshots you're sharing. @fogwraith created and maintains it and it just rules :-)

Welcome copland!

I'm with Bolkonskij that if you don't need Launcher specifically, a nicely-tweaked Apple Menu is a great way to launch apps without setting aside space on your screen for an application.

On my PowerCenter, with a larger screen and resolution, I'm okay with having an on-screen app to access apps, files, control panels, etc.  I use DragStrip for this purpose - it supports tabs and has quite a few features.

Thanks for all of the tips and the warm welcome.

The bullet worked perfectly, and I have a fully working Launcher again. Screenshot: http://images.macintosh.garden/2022/03/17/Launcher-Fixed.png

I was looking to use Launcher for the nostalgic feels, but I'll definitely play with the Apple Menu tutorial and try DragStrip.

Thanks all!
