Ok, so on another forum there was a discussion about floppy disks eventually all dying from natural causes. Users were considering options, one was to have everyone chip in and order a new huge stack of floppy disks for use with retro computers and get production going again. (much like it had happened with vinyl records) Then one member came around stating that all known floppy production machines were scraped, hence there's no possibility to ever produce new 3,5" floppies. So please everyone check your basement for a floppy disc maker ;-) ... Just kidding, but has anyone heard anything about that? Is that statement true and no machine is available anymore? That'd be a very sorry state. Given the Amigans tend to buy up every single 800KB floppy on the planet for their tons of new releases every year, there's not going to be much left for us Mac afficionados. Prices for floppies have already been on the rise the past few years. I wonder if I should shift my retirement from bonds to new old stock floppy disks ;-) |
