I couldn't stop myself (why should I?) and yanked up the screen rez of my Basilisk-II setup to the full whooping 1920x1080. Next thing I told myself was, why bother accessing System7Today from my Linux machine (like I have to do with the Garden)? But alas, whenever I try login to S7T from my MacOS 8.1 system I get an error message telling me to "check your cookie settings". Regardless if I do it in MS-Explorer, Netscape Navigator or iCab. And yes, I did check my cookie settings and they seem alright to me. Now, why won't that cookie crumble they way it ought to? |

Clearly, this behavior isn't expected. My 8600 is on rehab still, but I can tell you the forums used to work perfectly fine with any of those. Netscape 4 has a few quirks (like it doesn't "remember" you) but works as well. I'm on Classilla in OS 9 right now and it works fine here too. Knezzen has his 5500 on duty, so maybe can verify later. Somebody else here on an actual System 7 machine? Do you allow cookies to be saved via browser settings? Anything that would prevent the browser from storing the cookie?

I can login fine with IE/Netscape/iCab in OS8.1 here. I accept all cookies... all kinds...

I accept all cookies in all three browsers. I can view the website just fine, but I can not log-in - and the quirky thing is, that I can see that it has three cookies stored of system7today :-O

Ok, what is your system time? Any chance it is off? (e.g. in the past or in the future?)

Good point and to be honest, I haven't checked that yet. On my old tablet the system time was always correctly synced, but now that I am on Android 11 with a Stock Firmware I found that a lot of resources are suddenly "forbidden" to me (and I thought I paid a ton of money to make this flat box mine :-O I am still in the process of moving my data files to the new 1TB SD card and that takes a loooong time to complete. So once I got that done I boot back into B-II and check out the system clock.

This is very strange. Does it work on more modern machines or from your phone? Time doesn't really matter, it's more important that the date is correct.

Login works from my phone and PC with no problem and the date on my MacOS is correct. In Mac-Explorer it doesn't even give me an error message,it just won't proceed with the login. :-(

That is so odd an error. It definitely works on real hardware with all the mentioned browsers, so this is likely to be an issue within your emulated setup. If the date is current and cookies are enabled, are you using any means that'd block the browser writing and saving the cookie file locally?

No blocking no crypting, no nothing. Its just a sonte cold thing: Login works from Linux, but not inside B-II. And the clocks match (actuall, they are HW locked by the emulator).

There's something fishy going on inside B-II then. Not being a B-II user it's a bit hard for me to replicate. All I can say is that this ought to be a specific problem with your setup, as you seem to be the only one to date who experiences that trouble. (that said, we know of Netscape 4 quirks the devs didn't want to patch) I'm sorry I don't have any solution for now :-/

Oh wow! ![]() I'm thinking something went wonky with your BII install then, just no idea there. The usual suspects, reset your prefs folder (the quickest way is to remove it from your system folder and reboot) since if the problem is there, you should be good then (but keep in mind that Netscape web browsers need a key folder inside of your preferences folder for the browser to run properly) Happy New Year everyone! ![]() You can also install BII on an Android phone and see if your Mac image works well there as a way of testing BII

Someone else running into the same issue? As I said, we know that older 68k Macs have issues with Netscape 4 and form data (like the forum login aka "broken pipe error") but that shouldn't be the same bug here. Stumped as to what causes the issue.
