Oh - I am up for this. Great game and a great idea -- glad to know I'm not the only one that keeps coming back to Civ II after all these years.

Kinda off topic but does anyone know how to beat the Aztecs while playing as the Americans I am in 600AD I have a lot of spearmen some horsemen 5 catapults and my military advisor says I far out number them in troops my strategy is too bring a catapult to the nearest city (Texococo) as well as a spearman (to protect the catapult from unnecessary destruction) I have already captured there capital and saved it from chaos by fortifying spearmen and I tried going after both of there 2 city’s but they try too fortify and due to that ( and the fact that horsemen can attack only once) mean I can’t capture either btw this is Civilization III 😝 maybe the old wise grey bearded wizard @Bolkonskij can figure this one out 😉

Grey bearded? Not yet. It still has its natural color ;-) Covering a catapult as you do is a good idea. Have you tried bribing the units in fortifications with a diplomat? Unless they're a democracy, that's a very effective way to circumvent defenses without loss of too many units. (units which you'll need for conquering the city) EDIT: uploaded another map called "biotopes" to the Mac Garden

You could also apply a siege mentality and fill all of their unoccupied territory with your units. That way their productivity and food stocks will plummet and consequently their cities will shrink and they won't be able to build reinforcements. Eventually you'll wear down their military forces enough that you can capture their cities. On-topic, I'm really pleased to see you setting this up, Bolkonskij. I'll definitely participate if I can find the time, and either way I'm looking forward to trying out the maps that you and others create.

Wow, thanks for the kind words! It's an honor to have you here in our friendly little community! I'd be delighted if others would join in. I actually like the siege idea!
