You're asking way wayyy too much for that. You should expect to get around $20 for such a machine.

Not really it's much cheaper than many of the comperable mahcines in ebay, except of course for the power macintosh 8600/200 but thats another story.

"It seams your not a real expert after all", (not really just fooling around). As you don't really know the value of these machines, and in such great condition. "Oddly" enough the newer machines expert for Power Mac g4 and g5 are much cheaper. But these are much more expensive simply because 1) Collectible 2) and the built in video capability.

I'd even go as far as saying that I'd pay 100 bucks for that machine, but for $350 I could buy a real nice G4 machine. I really only have the old stuff for novelty's sake.

I don't think so. For example, this 9600 couldn't even sell at $40, despite being listed twice and having significantly more impressive Avid hardware included.

If $350 is the ballpark you need to part with this machine then I'd recommend you just keep it and enjoy it.

My 8500 is 10 times that machine, and it has a value of NIL!

Maybe if it were a Mac Pro, fella!

"Worth" is such an abstract concept.  Worth, as an indication of value from a perspective; I say, if you can get that much for it, congratulations.  As it is, it's "worth" is whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

I agree Breetie.

One man's trash...another man's treasure...and vice-versa.

Now...perhaps if it were a TAM new in the box...then I could see that kind of money.  As much as I adore my 8500/120/G3 (with 336 MB of RAM, 2 hard drives, USB/Firewire card, fast SCSI card), I wouldn't even joke about wanting $350 for it.

I think one of the previous posts was right on the money: keep it and enjoy.

I'm going to have to agree with most of the posts that $350 is an unrealistic asking price.  A few months ago I got off eBay a 9600/300 with a G4/800 card, 512MB Ram, a 4GB SCSI drive, a 10GB IDE drive, an IDE/Firewire/USB card...all of this for $49.95 and I was the only bidder.  10/100 Ethernet cards are dirt cheap; in fact I have some I can't even give away.

To give some price perspective, I recently got a 2.3GHz, dual core G5 with 2GB Ram and a 250GB HD for less than $300, shipped.

I'd like to apologize, for this topic has brought up some large commotion. I would also like to say that I based my pricing on what I could compare on ebay. I'll never do that again.

I'm sorry.

You have to look at completed listings that sold, not whatever is on there at the moment. Anyone can post an 8600 on eBay and ask $1,000. That doesn't mean it reflects the market value.

And no need to apologize.  All that the rest of us are trying to do is suggest that you would have better luck selling by asking a more reasonable price.  Good luck with your sale, though.

And/or offer encouragement to keep it instead.
