Oh boy do I feel stupid. My spouse pointed out that my post about using an external drive won't work. As was mentioned here. To be specific, he said that when I do my install using the os x stuff I took an image from the drive used in one of my 1400's and would just copy it on the the 2.5 drive by using an external usb drive. I would install 8.6 using an imac booted into 8.6 and install onto the external drive. I apologize for the wrong info. It's been a long time since i have actually installed on to a drive. Everything is disk images now. Once again sorry.
