-Sheepshaver runs 7.5.2-9.0.4  in a  ppc with OSX or linux http://gwenole.beauchesne.info/en/projects/sheepshaver

-Basilisk II JIT runs mac OS's 0.x-8.1 on OSX in Intel mac and on linux in pc. http://gwenole.beauchesne.info/en/projects/basilisk2

I suppose I really date myself by saying that I purchased the album while in college. It is an old album that I have not yet converted to mp3 format for play on the computer.

For converting albums and tape to digital, I use Sound Studio, which is written by Felttip Software. You can download both versions 1.x and a 2.x that work with 7.1 and up.

Back to your subject. I used Sheepshaver to run the Mac OS when booted in the BeOS. It worked well at that point, but I have not had much luck getting it up and running with OS X on G4 Mac. MOL (MacOnLinux) is a similar runtime environment for running the Mac OS under Linux on PPC hardware. There was some development work done to port it over to Mac OS X, but from what I have read the project did not meet great success.

Thanks for the (Felt)tip!

I was thinking to try out Sheepshaver in a B&W G3, for fun. (Yeah, I know... right after I told I have no need for X anymore...). Would I run to same problems as you did with G4? Would it be like Sheepshaver wouldn't just work, or like my mac going down with it, and I would need to install OS  and everything again?

 I like Blues and all kind of roots music. And their derivatives, too.

All you can do is give it a try. Personally I was curious about making Sheepshaver work, but did not see that it offered a great benefit to me. I did not spend enough working with it to see how well or poor it would work.

Sometimes a piece of software will seem to offer a great value and I will work hard to get it functioning. Often though I give something a try and if it works I can say "nice" and if not I just move on to something else.

Yeah, know the feeling. I've hit my head against a brickwall from time to time, just to find out there isn't nothing of much interest when finally gone through.

Usually I try to follow K.I.S.S. (KeepItSimpleStupid)-code of conduct.
