I used to burn CDs on my Duo 2300c using Toast 5 under OS 8.6, but I haven't been able to find a similar solution for System 7. It is not a critical function, but I would find it convenient if I could continue to do so on occasion. Any suggestions? Loverofmusic |

Toast V4 and V3 both work fine with System 7. Charismac's Describe has been around for as long as Toast and older versions of it may work as well. bill

I use Toast 3.5.7 now and then on my System 7 machines, with my SCSI Yamaha CD-RW drive. I haven't attained a copy of Toast 4 to test it out.

Is anyone using toast 4 with system 7. I found that toast 4 was os 8 and 9 compatible. I need that capability but I do not want to buy it if I must use os8. Bill I trust your response was correct.

Bill I trust your response was correct. I used Toast 3 on my Quadra 840 running 7.1. I replaced Apple's stock CD drive with a Yamaha 8424. The 8424 could not boot the Quadra, but it was a reliable burner. My version of Toast 4 was an OEM version and would not install on the Quadra protesting that it required a PPC machine. I do no know if Toast 4 requires PPC hardware or that requirement is related to my installer. I have Toast 4 installed on my PM8600 and it works well with OS 7.6.1. The PM 8600 has space to install 2 CD drives internally and I used that setup for some time. It seemed to me that the System was often confused by having two internal CD drives. I moved the CD burner (a Sony CRX model) to an external case and it has been working reliably. Toast 5 requires OS 8 and does not install on a system running OS 7.6.1 bill
