I have a radius 24x that i am using to power an lcd display the problem is that the benchmark score was very slow ie 68 no where near the stock speed of a 7100 is it the card? or a driver issue.  I did not install the RADIUS drivers in that i recall the had some compatibility issues.  also the sonnet cards are still 49$ for this model I got one last nite.  also 700 mhz zif g3 are going for 199

If you didn't install drivers, then that is your problem.  Video acceleration is not enabled.

If you have driver compatibility issues then you should be sure you have the latest version.  I don't have them on me but I'll look into it later.

First off I would tend to be leary of benchmark test results. It is necessary to know what exactlly the benchmarks are testing and how specifically they take their measurements. A test designed to provide speed information on display adaptors may not accurate for accellerated adaptors.

The nature of computer video has changed greatly over the years as well. During the NuBus era the focus was on cards that could provide lots of colors, bigger displays and faster refresh rates. There were many competing ideas on what "accelleration" should involve and a cards performance was very dependent on the drivers provided by the manufacturer and the area of "accelleration" that the manufacturer felt was important.

Your best video performance on NuBus era hardware can be obtained by evaluating the software you wish to use, checking to see if the software maker suggests any specific video cards for improved performance and checking the video card documentation to see the type of performance enhancements it offers and the types of software the video card manufacturer suggests as working best with their card.

I found a hdi 15 to db15 converter on ebay.  This will allow me to retest the machine using the internal video. Then I can see if i still get the 50% video performance. Except for the video bench mark shows the 7100 has much better performance over the stock 7100/80 I will let you know how it turns out.
