Just wondering... I haven't heard from @wove for a while. Are you ok, Bill? Neither have I seen anything of @cballero, @ShinobiKenobi, @mac-cellar and others for a while. Are you all fine? Or do you have trouble accessing the forum? (i know we had some trouble with automated blocking of certain North American IP addresses due to bot attacks) Report back if you can, please :-) |

I read S7T avidly, just I tend to post on comments when I see opportunities to contribute something of value or to join in the fun, so I do check in routinely between work breaks when I can, at least to read! ![]() I haven't seen another one of our FM afficionados, Lichen Software, in a while too, and of course, I really miss hearing from Brynjar, our Mac MD from Norway as well (although, he might only be a member from the MG, oops!)

Like @cballero, I check in on System 7Today often. Forums tend to go quiet during the summer. I do not have any real vintage hardware. My gear dates from ~2005 to 2019 and none of it runs a Classic MacOS natively, but all of it is setup to either use QEMU or emulators to run the older versions of the MacOS, or System6-7-8-9. I have over the past year cut my online presence down to the bare minimum. The only online account I use is my dotmac account which was introduced with Mac OS 9. I still think that HyperCard and Claris Works represent the finest software made and remain my biggest reason for still keeping older versions of Mac OS up running and useful.

Awesome! we’re all here, just a little quieter I too love using the Claris fam of tools, centering around all the pre OSX variants like ClarisWorks and FMP I run them on all my Classic-capable Macs and on the rest using emulation, including Windows and both using Wine and natively with BII on Linux: it bears testament to just how good that software was back then and still is to and for most of us!I’m re-posting a really neat article on how HyperCard helped influence the onset of the World Wide Web (the link is modern though) and the first viewer was built using a NeXT computer!

Thanks for checking on us. I'm here - I check in on the forums once a week or so - I've had no trouble accessing the forums. It's been a tough year for me personally. Aside from my Marchintosh project (converting a MDD to ATX power among other oddball tweaks), I've not had as much time or energy to devote to my classic Macs or System 7. I'm hoping things change. Still, I do as much as I can daily in Appleworks 6 and Hypercard on the iMac G4 that sits with me on my work desk - its also my music player, and occasional podcast dowloader, though all of that is in OS X Tiger. The iMac will hopefully be my next project when I get to it - I'll swap in an SSD, install a quieter fan, and blow out the dust.

I'm stateside too. Maybe part of it is just the general...malaise around these here parts... I was an FMP nut about 20 years ago. I even used it to generate c source code for tables and other crazy things.

Yes, we take pride in being that friendly small community. I think @cballero once called us the Cheers of vintage Mac communities. ("Where everybody knows your name...") Though at times I wonder if we need more activity. Should we add some threads like "Last thing done on System 7" etc. to encourage more chit-chat here?
