so to follow up on @laulands post i thought i might tell you all about fan-made remasters such as the recent super mario bros remaster apparently people have been decompiling and recompiling Nintendo games for a few years at this point most recently with Mario Kart 64 and porting them to x86 and arm architectures |

i had forgotten for over a decade that there was a fan-made minecraft launcher called TLauncher i think a decade ago i tried installing it on the family pc but a password stopped my then 10-11 year old self from doing that but hey once again made by fans for fans i haven't played MineCraft in any meaningful capacity since 2016 when the Mario update came to the Wii U originally in 2014 i would play a fan-made 2D version called MineBlocks ran on the school pc's in our classroom in elementary school running XP but since June of 2016 i haven't touched it https://mineblocks.com/ again made by fans for fans heres a screenshot minecraft 1.21 running under my t470 thinkpad on windows 10 1607 (maybe it will work under 7/8.1??) https://revontulet.org/2025/09/30/373cdc759ccd44ddaf85a239f9a1b685.png
