Wow, THAT is long time support :-D ... that's probably the one area Microsoft always triumphed over Apple :-) Though, Apple did offer System 7.5.x for free for a time. Do they still do that or is that download gone by now? Given System 7 images are readily available thanks to the Mac Garden, I never went back to check. But in the 2000's while looking for a OS (any!) for my 6100, I was happy to find that offering. (given I was a poor student with no money to spend on OS versions)

They were indeed once hosted by Apple, but I recall the links stopped working many years ago (might even be 10+). They had both System 7.5.3 and the update to System 7.5.5 listed. URL was once: http://download.info.apple.com/Apple_Support_Area/Apple_Software_Updates/English-North_American/Macintosh/System/Older_System/System_7.5_Version_7.5.3/

Fortunately the entire hierarchy has been mirrored by several entities and is still available from many locales. One of the better Macintosh mirrors, I think is Your.Org Download of 7.5.3 is here. Download of 7.5.5 Update here. For other nationalities. What most I appreciate about Your.Org, is it is very System 7 friendly ![]() No js and bare minimal css - long may it exist.

I am wandering a bit off here, but I did want to say that I really like the aspect ratio of that screen shot. I have an early oughts HP 17 inch LCD monitor with a 4:3 aspect ration that swivels from landscape to portrait. I do not recall where it came from and I kept it only because it "piviots". It is a very poor quality monitor. The colors are horrible; it looks like who ever used it cleaned the screen with steel wool. Windows has a driver that will flip the screen when you pivot the monitor. Linux and MacOS will pick up the correct orientation on startup, but does not change orientation when you pivot the monitor. If you work text, or read lots content the portrait orientation is exceptionally nice to work with.

I have a similar one, @wove, it also pivots and it's old, with a 4x3 ratio display. Mine's a Samsung brand, fortunately, the color is pretty good. Many years ago, I was given a Macintosh Portrait Display, which was a CRT mono display. With a Mac II or newer, you would get up to 8bit grayscale, which wasn't too bad, but no pivot. The monitor was great for documents. The pic is a low rez stock photo, though at one time I did own both the display and the Mac model depicted in it. Sadly I no longer have either.

It converts MIDI files into gmn (GUIDO Music Notation) files.
